How to Make Text Bigger on Android

By Isaac Farris·Updated May 29, 2026·5 minute read

Squinting at your Samsung or Pixel? Android makes it easy to bump up the text, the icons, or both. Menu names differ slightly between Samsung, Pixel, and other brands, so I'll give you the path for each. Here's how to make your phone comfortable to read again.

Quickest fix

Samsung: Settings > Display > Font size and style, drag the slider. Pixel / most others: Settings > Display > Display size and text (or "Font size"), drag the slider. Done in seconds.

Option 1: Bigger font

On a Samsung Galaxy

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Tap Font size and style.
  4. Drag the Font size slider to the right. You can also turn on Bold font here.

On a Pixel and most other Androids

  1. Open Settings > Display.
  2. Tap Display size and text (older phones: Font size).
  3. Under Font size, tap the larger "A" or drag the slider until it's comfortable.

Option 2: Make everything bigger (display size)

Font size changes only the words. To enlarge icons, buttons, and everything on screen:

This is the one to use if the buttons feel tiny, not just the text.

Option 3: Bold text for clarity

Bolder text can be easier to read than just larger text. On Samsung it's the Bold font toggle in Font size and style. On Pixel, look under Settings > Display > Display size and text for Bold text. Combining a modest size increase with bold often reads best.

Option 4: Magnify part of the screen

For occasional zooming into small print:

  1. Open Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Tap Magnification (under Visibility enhancements on Samsung).
  3. Turn it on and pick how to trigger it (a shortcut button or triple-tap).
  4. Then you can zoom into any part of the screen on demand.
